殺害4歲女童的王姓凶嫌父親表示兒子精神不穩定，曾被送往北市聯醫松德院區住院，但沒有身障手冊；聯醫昨證實王男2年前曾急診就醫，但隔天就出院，沒有後續就醫紀錄，無法判定他是否患有精神疾病。
衛生福利部則表示，初步懷疑王姓嫌犯應該是因吸食安非他命出現幻覺，才會對女童進行這種殘殺行為，並強調真正精神疾病患者反而很少出現攻擊行為。
外界認為嫌犯可能是因為罹患精神疾病才犯案，但衛福部心理及口腔健康司司長諶立中表示，真正的精神疾病患者，反而較少出現攻擊行為，王嫌過去曾因吸食安非他命遭勒戒，推測應是吸毒出現幻覺才作出殘忍的行為。
精神科醫師楊聰財則表示，從台南湯姆熊遊樂場兒童命案，到鄭捷捷運殺人案，公共場域慘案頻傳，不排除有「模仿效應」。
他說，過去犯罪心理調查顯示，至少8成人在犯案前都有跡可尋，以這次案件為例，犯嫌人不在廚房，卻帶著大菜刀街上亂晃，顯然非常有問題。
